Adventure Travel: A New Trend for Honeymoons

Description: Many couples are looking for something different for their honeymoons and many are turning to adventure honeymoons. Many are looking for ways to be inspired and they want to know that they have done something beyond what they would normally experience.

One of the new trends for honeymoons is that of adventure travel vacations. Couples are doing everything from hanging out a dude ranch to talking an eco-friendly retreat. Some honeymooners like the rugged adventures like safaris to Alaska or going to Baja Mexico for kayaking, but others like softer adventure like staying in a castle or trying a new activity.

There are many options for couples who want to enjoy some adventure and the type of honeymoon you try will depend on how much adventure you want to experience. Here are a few of the most popular adventure honeymoons listed from high adventure to low:

Adventure 1: Himalayan Road, Nepal (Highest Level) -- this is not for the feint of heart and it is only for couples who want to enjoy hair raising adventure. The trick is to travel by car from Lhasa to Katmandu. Although you can visit monasteries and check out the summer or winter places that used to be for the Dali Lama, but you are also adventuring with tough turns and may experience altitude sickness. This is a nine day trek and you can find packages that also book your places to stay along the way.

Adventure 2: Amazing Race, Southern France (High Level) -- if you’ve ever wanted to drive a race car, this could be the right adventure for you. You get to jump into a Maserati or Lotus speedster (you will rent it) and check out the scenery, then go to the AGS Formula 1 Driving School and get into a real race car with a pro. When you’re finished, you can go to Cannes and stay at the Majestic-Barriere.

Adventure 3: Mountain Climb, Mt. Fuji, Tokyo (Medium Level) -- believe it or not, this climb isn’t as hair raising as Adventure number 1, but you will still get your money’s worth. If you are a couple that likes to mountain climb, this adventure honeymoon won’t disappoint you. The payoff is that you get to see the sun rise but it is a grueling climb and not for the faint of heart.

Adventure 4: Glacier Cruise: Vancouver to Anchorage (Very Low Level) -- if none of the other adventures have drawn your interest, this one may be exactly what you are looking for in terms of adventure. This is basically a cruise past Glacier Bay that begins in Vancouver and ends in Anchorage.

Whatever adventure honeymoon you take, you can be sure that you will become closer after the experience.
