Planning a Honeymoon Together

Description: When you are planning your wedding it is very important that both people sit down and plan the honeymoon; otherwise you may be in for surprises that you won’t like.

When people are involved in planning their wedding, women often are the ones that do most of the planning. Although men want to get married, they allow their fiancée and her mother to do everything and they just want to show up.

However, it is very important that both couples sit down and plan the honeymoon together; otherwise you may get some surprises that will not make your honeymoon memorable.

Here are some suggestions to get you moving:

Choose a time when both of you can be together for this -- take some time away from the wedding planning and find a time when both of you can be together. Have a nice dinner and a little music, and then think about what you want to do.

Start planning at least six months ahead of your wedding -- we say at least six months because for the best rates and for your best focus, you will need to do this near the time when you are engaged. Life will get more hectic as you move towards the wedding date.

Get brochures to plan the destination--if you know of a travel agent, go to them and gather all the free brochures you can about places where you may want to go. Get brochures about other states as well as exotic locations. Find out where the most popular places are for people to go. You can also find out a lot of information from the Internet.

Decide how you want to travel - you can go by train, plane or automobile. We suggest not going by automobile unless someone else is driving. Seriously though, many couples are planning cruises instead of going to one special city. Look at cruise packages as well to see if any of your destinations are included.

Packages vs. single travel -- you may find that you can get all inclusive packages that will give you more opportunities than a single city vacation. This may help you with your travel budget.

Budget -- unfortunately you will have to take into consideration your budget and the amount that you want to spend. However, if you plan ahead, you may be able to find someone who would give you the honeymoon as a gift once you know where you are going.

These tips will get you started and you can probably do this in a couple of hours once both of you sit down for the planning. This is another way to continue the romance and you will be happy that you planned together.

New Trends for Honeymoons

Description: There are new trends in honeymoons that couples are taking advantage of today. As the travel industry has changed, the taste of honeymoon travelers has changed.

As you probably expect there are a lot of different ways that people are celebrating their marriage these days that are very different from their parents or from how it was done years ago.

With high travel prices and opportunities galore, couples are finding that they can combine some fun travel in with a variety of locations and amenities. Couples today are looking for a good value that comes with variety and sometimes exotic locations.

Couples are also willing to spend double the per couple cost that they would pay for a regular vacation. This is generally because many people are returning to traditional weddings and a honeymoon is seen as the first step towards couples really getting to know each other.

Here are some popular trends that couples are sharing today:

Trips that are all inclusive

By spending a few more dollars, couples can find all inclusive packages that include hotel rooms, food, air, transfers and some activities. Tips are also included in these and it is a great way to plan for the honeymoon. This is a more convenient way to travel and one that is worry free.

Getting Married and Honeymooning at the same time

Some couples find it romantic to get married on their honeymoon. This is very popular in the Caribbean because of the SuperClubs where they provide the minister, the wedding and the license. This is a great idea if you are very certain you want to marry your intended and you don’t have to go somewhere new for the honeymoon.

Honeymoon Destinations where the Dollar is Greater

Many people have found that honeymooning in Canada and Mexico brings a greater return because of the currency exchange. They find that they can ski in parts of Canada or visiting Montreal or Quebec because it is similar to France. Canada has beautiful spots to explore.

Honeymoons Closer to Home

Because of work schedules and other pressures, many people are finding that a honeymoon close to home makes more sense. In doing so, they try out bread and breakfasts or country inns. This is a great way to go away for the weekend to relax and refresh for the next week.

Honeymoon Spa Vacations inside the United States

Description: There are many special honeymoon vacation spots that are in the United States. You can try spa vacations or resorts and still have a very good time.

Now your wedding is over and it is time to embark on your honeymoon. Many people find that the first thing they want to do is relax after all the hectic activity. Why not try something different and go to a spa together?

There are many spa vacations that are perfect for honeymoons because the cities are both romantic and fun. They are great places where you can relax and enjoy each others company. Here are a few of the most popular:

Resort Spa Number 1: Mandarin Oriental Miami, Florida -- this first resort spa is a wonderful way to experience the oriental theme without going across the waters. Located on the Brickell Key, the hotel gives you access to a private beach, beautiful views of the bay and a spa. This is a great place to go if you like to party because their nightlife is filled with salsa and other fun. You can relax in the full-service spa; it was voted “Best Spa in the USA” by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.

Resort Spa Number 2: St Regis Resort Aspen, CO -- if you want a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere than this is the spa to go to. Nestled in the mountains in Aspen Colorado, the colors and the majesty of the hotel itself will at first take your breath away. When you enter the hotel, you will visit the new Remède Spa that promises to indulge you in the pampering you have been waiting to experience. Try a honeymoon package for the ultimate experience.

Resort Spa Number 3: Four Seasons Resort Aviara, Carlsbad -- although this spa is only 30 minutes from San Diego you would never know that it is part of a city. It is billed as a natural sanctuary and anyone who has been there knows that they are noted for their superb customer service, delicious dining and fun. You can choose to take walks along the lagoon, take a limousine ride to a wine tasting or enjoy a private dinner on the terrace of your room.

Resort Spa Number 4: The Phoenician, Scottsdale Scotsdale, Arizona -- if you like mountains you will also like this resort because it sits in front of the Camelback Mountains. Their spa packages may be a great way for the two of you to relax before you move into a romantic evening.

A resort can be just the place to rewind after the wedding and before you have to get back to the daily grind.

Finding the Best Cuisine on Your Honeymoon

Description: On your honeymoon it is a tradition to try new foods that you haven’t tried before and you can do this in many locations. In most cities, you can find the best restaurants by doing a little research ahead of time.

When you are on your honeymoon, although most of it will be spent starry eyed, you will have to eat sometime. In a new city however, it may be difficult to know just what to eat and where.

We have checked around to find out how people go about finding the best food on their honeymoon and we offer these tips:

Check out the food before you go -- one of the things you must look at before you go on your honeymoon is the choices of food that are available in and around the hotel. This will give you an idea of what is available. However, in every city, they also have a Best Restaurants list that may be of benefit to newbies.

Book reservations in advance -- if you find a restaurant that looks particularly interesting, find out more about it. If you want to go, book your reservations ahead of time and check on them before you leave.

Romantic restaurants vs. other restaurants -- just because a restaurant says it is romantic doesn’t mean that it is and it doesn’t meant that their meaning of romantic will be the same as what you think. Check the Internet for people’s experiences on honeymoons and other trips to see where they went. Most people will tell you whether it was romantic.

You can sometimes get to a location and find a small restaurant, outside the tourist area that has the ambiance and romance you are looking for, so keep your options open.

Check the restaurant’s schedule--sometimes you will want to try a restaurant only to find out that it is being renovated when you get there. Check to see that they will be open and available during your stay.

Let them know you are on your honeymoon -- wait until you get to the restaurant for this one, but let them know you are on your honeymoon. You never know what wonderful experiences you may have when you let people know.

Be open to different dining experiences -- many people will eat the same cuisine that they would always eat because it is "safe." However, if you talk to the locals, you may find that there are wonderful eating experiences just waiting for you to try them.

Finding the best cuisine when you are on your honeymoon can add to the overall enjoyment of your romance and at to the ambiance overall.
